Titanium

Titanium

Titanium is a preferred metal for piercings, particularly for initial piercings. This is because it is as stong as steel whilst being as light as aluminium, and is also highly resistant to water corrosion. Titanium can also reduce odour and healing time, compared to steel jewellery.

Titanium is hypoallergenic and biocompatible, as it contains very little nickel. Nickel is a common cause of allergic contact dermatitis associated with earrings and other jewellery, and the fact that titanium has a low nickel content means that it is even suitable for people with metal allergies.

Titanium can be anodised or coated, meaning that it is available in a wide variety of vibrant colours to suit whatever look you want. It can also be sterilised and autoclaved.
